Sending Love and Support through Technology

FullSizeRender (7)

One of the highlights of my trip last year was meeting fellow Filipinos who have been living abroad for years to decades now.  On the photo above is Natalie who works at a souvenir shop in Rome.  I shared on my Instagram that she’s an only child from La Union who’s working so hard so that she can eventually afford to get her mom to be with her in Italy.

Aside from her, we also met several kindhearted OFWs whose faces light up whenever they see Filipino tourists like us who remind them of the warmth and comfort of home.  Admirable is an understatement to describe their dedication to their families and personal dreams.

Most of them shared that they send money back home every now and then.  However, in this age of Facebook, Instagram and digital technology, there are a lot more ways for them to help their families in the Philippines aside from sending over money.  This is what BeamAndGo believes in.  BeamAndGo, a startup company, has developed an innovative service that enables OFWs to provide their families with easy access to grocery items, cellphone load, healthcare, and a whole lot more!  Senior VP Albert Go, a good friend of mine, worked in Singapore for a couple of years.  He and his partners launched this business because they understand the struggles of OFWs in terms of providing help.  Now, there’s a convenient way for OFWs to help their families in the Philippines!

So, how exactly does BeamAndGo work?

Kababayans from abroad simply need to follow these 4 steps:

Before we proceed, make sure to register and create an account at the BeamAndGo website.  Scroll down for the 4 steps.

Step 1: Select the service that you want to give to your loved ones in the Philippines. The complete list of services are on the Beam and Go website.

Step 2: Purchase your digital GC! Simply select the number of GCs that you want to buy for your relative/s. GCs are in denominations of Php 1,000.

Step 4: Select your payment method!

Yup, that’s all you have to do!  BeamAndGo will take care of sending the GC to your relative in the PH.

Now, for relatives of our kababayans abroad, you’ll be receiving the GCs via SMS.  If, for instance, you receive a Super 8 grocery GC, here’s what your experience will be like:

If, for instance, you receive a Super 8 grocery GC, go to the Super 8 branch nearest you, make sure to bring your phone, and shop away!

Go to the Super 8 branch nearest you.  Make sure to bring your phone and a valid ID then shop away!

Simply show the text GC to the cashier. He/she will then ask for a valid ID and verify if you are indeed the recipient of the GC.

After shopping, simply show the text GC to the cashier. He/she will then ask for a valid ID and verify if you are indeed the recipient of the GC.

The cashier will then encode the GC code and you no longer have to pay anything! :)

How convenient, right?! :)

In a perfect world (or a perfect Philippines), no one will ever have to leave home to pursue better lives and to support their families.  It can and will happen someday, but until then, thank God for these OFWs, our modern-day heroes who sacrifice so much for their families, and kudos to businesses like BeamAndGo who support our OFWs and help make their and their families’ lives a lot better.

Luminous Inside and Out

Luminisce BGC

I’ve had dry skin for as long as I remember, and it can be quite uncomfortable, especially during the summer or when the weather is really cold.  I know that people with dry skin are more prone to getting wrinkles (huhu) and since I’m turning 30 this year (huhuhuhuhu), I finally resolved to pay extra attention to my skin to avoid skin aging.  If you have skin concerns like me and are looking for a dermatologist to help you, Luminisce Skin Clinic is the place to go to!

Luminisce Skin Clinic

Luminisce was founded by the beautiful and kind-hearted Dr. Kaycee Reyes.  Dr. Kaycee believes that true beauty isn’t solely based on baring flawless appearances but having that overall confidence derived from good health and a well-balanced life.  This means that Luminisce is all about improving your overall health in order to achieve total skin care, which is actually a groundbreaking and holistic approach to skin care.

Dr. Kaycee Reyes is a well-trained dermatologist backed by strong credentials: UST Faculty of Medicine & Surgery, St. John’s Institute of Dermatology in London, University of Ramathibodi Hospital at Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand.  All of her patients are in good hands. :)

Dr. Kaycee's angels! When I dropped by their clinic one Friday night, these girls knew exactly what I needed: A hyrdropower facial to hydrate my dry skin and to relax my stressed mind! :)

This was me after that hydropower facial! My eyes were drooping because I fell asleep during the facial (sarap kasi), but I felt that my skin was really radiant! :)

Dr. Kaycee really listens to you during consultations. One time, I consulted her about my falling hair. Because Luminisce is all about holistic skin care and overall health, she asked me to undergo a series of lab tests first to determine the actual cause of my hairfall (because it’s possible that I’m lacking in several vitamins and minerals).  [Official Luminisce photo]

I just looove their clinic!!! :) The reception area is clean and simple while all of the rooms are really cozy! No wonder I always fall asleep during treatments! :p

Clockwise: Stella Pastores, Audrey Angcos, Bea Santiago, Maggie Wilson. These girls SKINvest in their Luminisce treatments. Aren't they enough proof that the treatments work? :) Audrey, for one, has ultra-flawless skin! She once shared with me that she used to have acne. Of course, all of the acne disappeared thanks to Luminisce!
