A Slice of Singapore (plus a blog giveaway!)

My Singapore Food Street 9

Here on my blog, I keep on saying that you need not go too far to travel, explore, or embark on a new experience.  We can always experience something new and different right where we are, that is if we want to!  That’s exactly what My Singapore Food Street‘s mission is — to give us a taste of Singapore in the heart of Metro Manila!

I’ve only been to Singapore twice, but I can say that it’s already one of my favorite places in Asia.  Singapore is Asia’s melting pot, and that also makes their cuisine the most diverse in the continent.  Last April 12, I got to experience authentic Singaporean cuisine once again but this time, it was just right here in Metro Manila — at My Singapore Food Street, 2nd level of SM Megamall.  I was with a couple of other bloggers and we had a blast!

The owner, Singapore-born AFC celebrity chef Ms. Vivien Tan misses Singapore and loves it so much that she decided to bring it to Manila for us, Filipinos, to experience!

Now, on to the food.  This is the first time I’m mentioning this here on the blog, but I’ve given up meat when the new year kicked in (more of that on another entry!), so I was worried that I won’t be able to eat much during this event.  Well, I was wrong!  My Singapore Food Street stays true to what Singaporean cuisine is — diverse and with a wide variety, with dishes for vegetarians and pescetarians to enjoy. :)

When I visited Singapore a few years ago, their signature chicken rice became an instant favorite (I was still eating meat back then).  Chicken rice is available at My Singapore Food Street, of course!  But what makes their chicken rice and other dishes different from other Singaporean restos in Manila?  According to Emman, their food is served fresh and they don’t use MSG at all!  :)

Sharing with you some shots of my favorite food and of the event that took place.  And yes, we want you to experience Singapore in Manila as well!  Scroll down until the end of the entry for my blog giveaway mechanics!!!
