I’m honestly not big on gifts. To me, getting together with friends and loved ones during the holiday season is already more than enough. When I have to give gifts though, I’d like to make them meaningful. I’m starting a mini-series on the blog this holiday season on meaningful Christmas gift ideas. Most of these gifts were introduced to me via the Blissful Boxes during the September Blissmakerie and the recent Blissmakers’ gathering with Luminisce.
For this batch of gift ideas, I’d like to suggest some items that enable you to support local causes if and when you buy them: Humabi bags, Hallmark Philippines items, notebookes by Airees Creates, and totes/pouches by Blessings by Fad.
Humabi is founded by Erika Tesoro-Mata, a laboratory scientist and philanthropist who wanted to provide livelihood to women in jail and at the same time, send underprivileged children to school. These Humabi bags are made out of plastic straw ropes that are handwoven by the said women detainees. If you buy a bag, portion of the proceeds will go to the scholars of Philippine Science High School! Already been using mine for weeks and I can say that the bags are sturdy and chic! They come in different styles and sizes.

Hallmark has always been a big name every Christmas season because of its cards, wrapping paper, and other Christmas essentials. But what people probably don’t know is that Hallmark Philippines is an advocate of L.I.F.E., or the Leukemic Indigents Fund Endowment. The Hallmark for L.I.F.E. campaign has been helping indigent kids with leukemia for 19 years now!
My favorite Hallmark for L.I.F.E. item is the canvas pouch (shown on the photo above) designed by Filipino artists. Also, no one knows wrapping paper and Christmas cards better than Hallmark which has been in the business for a century now! Wrapping paper and gift tags are available in National Bookstore branches.

Airees Escueta-Rondain is a local artist and founder of Airees Creates. Airees has recently explored deeper into art journaling and mixed media as a form of personal expression. She remains passionate about eco-friendly and sustainable local products, especially, paper, and has since then designed and produced various items like journals and wallets. Every purchase of these pocket-sized notebooks (shown below) will support her and her team. The said team consists of former fisherfolk and housewives in Northern Mindanao.
You may check out Airees’ online shop here. She has notebooks of different sizes, calendars, and paper wallets — all with a variety of cute and colorful designs!
Blessings by FAD
Former preschool teachers France and Ami wanted to utilize their common love for tote bags to carry out their mission of spreading faith, love, and positive vibes. With this, Blessings by FAD was born. Their totes and pouches are all designed to inspire and to contribute to society. Five percent of every purchase goes to Open Doors Philippines.
They can also personalize bags for you! The tote on the photo has my name on the back. You may follow them on Facebook and Instagram for more details!
These are just some ideas on some gifts to give to loved ones this Christmas. At the end of the day, what really matters is that we remember the real meaning of this holiday season.
Have a great week ahead!
