Three Awesome Podcasts to Listen to While Driving Through Traffic

The Lively Show

Metro Manila traffic is hell.  I spend an average of four hours on the road — two hours going to work and another two hours going home.  There are days when I opt to just avail of the services of the uber reliable Uber because driving through traffic can be excrutiatingly exhausting!  Taking Uber everyday is painful on the pocket though, that’s why I really have no choice but to drive myself to work and put up with the traffic.  It’s a sad and sh*tty reality.  Just thinking about it now makes me want to cry, seriously.

Anyway, enough of the ranting!  I try to make the drive more bearable with the radio shows that I listen to.  Any show on Magic 89.9 and DZMM 630 keeps me informed and entertained as I drive through the nth circle of hell.  (That was the last rant, I promise.  Haha.)  When I’m not on AM or FM radio though, I listen to podcasts.

Podcasts are my partners in self-improvement.  I still have so much to learn in my job/career, about blogging, about health and wellness, and about living life in general — and these podcasts have been of great help to me in all of these areas. Amazing how these experts share, well, their expertise and insights, to everyone through free downloadable episodes! They’re making this world a better place!  Seriously!  :)

There are a lot of other podcasts that you can download to make your time in traffic more productive, but these three are my favorites.  Enjoy!

1) The Lively Show

Jess Lively is AWESOME.  I already featured her podcast before and it remains a personal favorite to this day!  It has since then evolved from merely being an inspirational podcast to a show that covers a wide range of topics, with special guests giving more practical advice on key life areas such as career, relationships, finances, health, and so on.

The episode that has helped me a lot was Episode 85: Optimizing Your Hormones to Improve Every Aspect of Your Life.  Her guest was integrated nutritionist and hormone specialist Alisa Vitti.  Every woman should listen to this episode!  Through the show, I learned that hormones play a much bigger role in our lives than we acknowledge.  I also learned that today’s concept of traditional nutrition and proper exercise are all based on a male’s hormone patterns and won’t really work for the female system.  I personally suffer from severe PMS that can really screw up everything I touch, and it’s comforting to know that I’m not alone in this.

Here are some of my other favorite episodes from The Lively Show:

  • Episode 37: Purpose, Intention, and Uncertainty with Jess Lively
  • Episode 48: Embracing and Accepting Our Talents with Brooke White
  • Episode 93: Life After Blogging, the New Book, and Blog/Life Boundaries with John & Sherry Petersik
  • Episode 95: The Two Biggest Things That Can Make or Break Our Careers with Jon Acuff

You may visit Jess Lively’s website here.

2) Brand YOU! with Mike Kim

Brand You Podcast with Mike Kim

Mike Kim’s philosophy is: “Live your message.  Love your work.  Leave your mark.”  His podcast has been helping me do just that, and a lot of his episodes have been helping me as a blogger.  He covers all sorts of topics in relation to personal branding from building a personal brand online to maximizing presence at events and crafting bios.

His content is simple yet rich with valuable information and advice.  He really is an expert when it comes to these things!  If I could only afford his services, I’d hire him as a coach! This podcast is perfect for entrepreneurs, working professionals, and bloggers, or for anyone who wants to make a difference and leave a mark through what they do.

Below are my favorite episodes:

  • Episode 57: How to Get Clearer on Clarity
  • Episode 58: The Antidote to not Having Enough
  • Episode 59: The 3 Identities of Every Personal Brand

You may visit Mike Kim’s website here.

3) The Fizzle Show

The Fizzle Show

The screen shot says 17 unplayed episodes but I’ve actually already listened to most of them (podcasts were reset when I updated my OS, sorry!).  Heart and hustle, self-employment, and creative business.  I enjoy listening to these guys, they’re hilarious!  This is for people who own a business or who want to start one.  I don’t have a business, but the topics they cover really help me with my professional life.

My favorite episode was episode 111 where they were tackled managing side projects with a full-time job.  At first I was iffy taking in side projects but after listening to this, I realized that it can be a good thing when balanced and managed properly.  Here are some episodes you may find interesting:

  • Episode 125: How Do You Know What Content to Create?
  • Episode 140: How to Create your Own Definition of Success
  • Episode 100: Finally! A Roadmap for the 6 Stages of Small Business
  • Episode 96: Tips to Uncover What to Do With Your Life (When You Have No Clue)
  • Episodes 1 and 2: Finding Your Voice

You may visit their website here.

To Jess, Mike and Team Fizzle: THANK YOU.  I’ll say it again — you really are making this world a better place! :)

Any other podcasts that I should download?  I’d love to hear your suggestions! :)  Have a great week ahead!

Very nice! Incredibly productive while driving and even when stuck in traffic. My iPhone is loaded with audiobooks I listen to and I could say while there are people out there wasting time, mine is not wasted.

I sometimes listen to gaming related podcasts on the road. But, I mostly use podcasts before for educational purposes, because I am studying Nihongo (Japanese language).

For entertainment, I sometimes listen to The Morning Rush and Mo Twister to get a laugh. Haha!

So, do you stream or do you save podcasts?

Hi Anna! Before my trip last year, I also downloaded French and Italian podcasts so that I can learn the basics of the languages! :p I normally download them. Thanks for dropping by! :)
